Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNO): Society of Dental Surgeons J&K (SDSJK) welcomed announcement of appointing doctors to fight the Covid-19 crisis by the authorities. SDSJK in a statement issued to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that in these situations when there is chaos all around, doctors & paramedics are fighting a tough battle round the clock. SDSJK applauded the role of medicos against all challenges and threat. Moreover, the statement reads that doctors are overburdened and there is dire need of sufficient staff and appointing new doctors on fast track will be a welcome step, urging the government to appoint unemployed medical officers/dental surgeons to overcome the manpower shortage. It said that the dental surgeons are waiting since a long time for employment and most of them are either at the verge of overage or have crossed age limit for government job and hundreds of PHCs/NTPHCs are without any dental surgeon. Hiring retired doctors will be of no use as they are already come under high risk which has been witnessed across the globe. SDSJK said that it is highly hopeful that dental surgeons will be appointed on fast track district wise basis to handle the crisis. “These professionals will be helpful in combating the present crisis effectively,” they said –(KNO)
